When you set up an online account for any website or game, you usually have to choose a username that you'll use to log in to your account.

Sometimes, your username will be visible to other people. That means it's important to choose a username that's safe and professional.

A safe username keeps your personal information private. A safe username doesn't include information about exactly where you live, bank account or social security numbers, your phone number, or the school you attend.

For example, jordanjohnson12birchstreet is an unsafe username.

A professional username doesn't include slang or misspelled words. It's simple and easy to remember. For example, lolzgurl411 is an unprofessional username.

Choosing a professional username can help you make a good impression when you're contacting colleges, employers, and other important people.

A username that includes your full name is professional, but can be unsafe. If you choose a username like this, you should avoid using it to contact people you don't know in real life.

You might decide that using a shorter version of your full name is a safer choice. For example, if your name were Kelly Marshall, you could choose the username kmarshall or kellym.

You are lucky that the Nashua School District has setup a Google account already for you.  You already have a username that is safe and professional!
