Many of the ways in which you express yourself these days involves writing - whether it is a comment
online, a blog post or a tweet, you've got to be able to write your thoughts without errors. Spelling and grammar are
a big deal. Especially when you get older and start to look for a job.
To succeed in any type of career after college or high school, you'll need to
make sure you can write clearly and without errors.
As a student now and a grown-up later in life, you'll
always have to proofread stuff after you write.
Proofreading is making sure your writing is clear and checking
for errors in spelling,
grammar, and punctuation.
Sometimes in school you have a friend check your writing - this is called peer editing. Peer editing could
also be called peer-proofreading.
In school, after you proofread your work, you revise it.
Revision is making changes in a document to
produce a new, better version of it.
Some people revise their document while they
proofread it, as they find mistakes or areas that can
be improved.
You'll learn more about proofreading soon.
