You can change the way that numerical data appears in your spreadsheet.  

For example, if you are working with expenses and dealing with money, you can format the data as currency with dollar signs.  Numbers that represent percentages can be formatted to automatically include the % symbol.  You can also automatically convert numbers into time and date.
