The page orientation of
a document controls how
the document would be positioned on a printed page.
The standard size for a printed page is 8.5 inches by
11 inches, which means the page is a rectangle, not a
square. One side is longer than the other.
Because the two sides are different lengths, there are
two main ways of orienting the document on the page:
portrait and landscape.
A portrait orientation means
the document will be
more tall than wide.
A landscape orientation
means the document will be
more wide than tall.
